Carnival has finally arrived and many families were counting on it to make their first trip of the year. In case you weren't aware, in 2020 we will have 6 holidays considered long and Carnival is definitely one of them. For this reason, it makes perfect sense to book that nice inn for relax with family and, who knows, enjoy the festivities. However, for those who are thinking about traveling by car, the news is worrying: this Thursday, the gasoline price rises 3%.

So, anyone who was planning to spend a specific amount on the car trip will have to do new calculations to make ends meet. Furthermore, it is possible that you will need to cut some expenses to fit the fuel adjustment into your budget. This is the first fuel increase of the year and, interestingly, it has a lot to do with external issues. In this context, even the coronavirus and the constant rise of the dollar are influencing the calculations you will have to redo this Carnival.

Thinking about traveling with your family over Carnival weekend? Gasoline price rises 3%, so it's better to rethink the travel model

As we said above, this is the first time that the price of fuel has risen in 2020. Throughout January and February, we had around 4 adjustments, but all of them reduced the amount paid by the consumer. Currently, what is driving the news that the gasoline price rises 3% is the price of fuel on the international market. The value of oil has risen, which obviously affects the pockets of Brazilian end consumers.

Regarding the Coronavirus and the dollar, both are important factors in the increase in the price of gasoline. Several industries around the world are suffering from interruptions or declines in the Chinese industry's production chain, which is very fragile. As the disease spreads more and more, fewer people work or consume products. Consequently, production falls and companies dependent on this production are also affected, whether they are in China or not.

In this context, the world economy is weakened and the dollar appreciates. Last Wednesday, the currency reached the historic mark of R$4,37. For these reasons, mainly, the gasoline price rises 3% so close to the Carnival holiday. The news is not good, as so many people will be using the roads until at least Wednesday. People will consume more fuel and therefore spend more money. However, even if the perspective isn't that great, don't stop enjoying it because of that. Just spend consciously!
